The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed coordination shop drawings, as-built drawings, and layouts for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in compliance with project specifications, authority regulations, and engineering standards in the UAE. The candidate must be proficient in AutoCAD and have strong knowledge of MEP systems, construction procedures, and coordination with other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities1. Drafting & Design
Prepare MEP shop drawings (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, fire-fighting) based on approved design drawings.
Modify and update drawings as per site requirements, consultant comments, and engineering instructions.
Develop detailed coordination drawings showing clash-free routing with civil and architectural elements.
Produce as-built drawings for project handover.
2. Coordination
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, plumbing engineers, and site teams to resolve drawing discrepancies.
Attend coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and other related trades.
Identify conflicts and provide workable solutions in drawings.
Maintain drawing logs, revisions, and documentation records.
Assist in preparing material submittals, layouts, and technical documentation when required.
Support site teams with detailed drawings and clarification during installation.
5. Software & Technical Skills
Expertise in AutoCAD (2D).
Knowledge of Revit MEP (preferred).
Familiarity with Navisworks for clash detection (advantage).
Strong understanding of MEP services, riser diagrams, schematic drawings, and layouts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Drafting or Engineering.
Minimum
8 years of relevant MEP drafting experience in the UAE
.
Strong knowledge of MEP systems in building projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and technical communication.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
