Job Description

MEP Design Engineer responsible for the design, calculation, and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects in the UAE. Ensures designs comply with local authority regulations and international engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering

Develop detailed MEP designs including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Prepare heat load calculations, pump head calculations, duct & pipe sizing, and electrical load schedules. Create technical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD/Revit. Select suitable equipment and materials in line with project requirements and vendor specifications.

2. Technical Documentation

Prepare design reports, BOQs, technical specifications, and method statements. Review IFC drawings and project specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance. Generate and review technical submittals for materials and equipment.

3. Coordination & Communication

Coordinate MEP services with architectural, structural, and other engineering teams. Attend design coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors. Provide technical support during project execution and resolve site design issues.

4. Compliance & Standards

Ensure all designs adhere to UAE regulations, including DEWA, DM, DCD, SEWA, ADCD, and ADDC standards. Apply relevant international codes such as ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, and IEEE. Perform design verification and quality checks to ensure accuracy and safety.

5. Project Support

Assist in value engineering to optimize cost without compromising performance or quality. Support tendering processes by preparing design deliverables and responding to technical queries. Provide updates on project progress, design changes, and risk identification.

Key Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP/Elite, Dialux, and other relevant software. Strong understanding of UAE building regulations and authority approvals. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills. Ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet project deadlines.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (as applicable). 4+ years of MEP design experience in UAE projects. Experience working with consultants or contractors is an advantage.
