Job Purpose

The Medical Laboratory Sciences Program Lecturer will be responsible for developing and delivering lectures and assessments for medical laboratory sciences courses in the medical laboratory sciences program. Will work closely with other faculty members to ensure that the curriculum is current, relevant, and meets the program\'s objectives.

Program Courses covered by position (one or more):

Clinical Hematology I, Medical Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry I, Immunology, Systematic Bacteriology, Clinical Hematology II, Histotechnology, Clinical Chemistry II, Clinical Preceptorship I, Hemostasis, Parasitology, Virology, Mycology, Cytotechnology, Clinical Biochemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Laboratory Management, Applications in Molecular Diagnostics, Clinical Preceptorship II, Clinical Correlations, Clinical Preceptorship III, Pathology of Diseases.

Key Accountabilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develops and delivers lectures and assessments for medical laboratory sciences courses in the higher college\xe2\x80\x99s medical laboratory sciences program in order to equip medical laboratory students with technical skills and analytical expertise to possess professional knowledge in the areas of hematology, immunology, transfusion science, clinical chemistry, microbiology, molecular and cellular pathology, with the potential to specialize and advance their skills in specialist areas.
• Develops course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials
• Develops and implements, program policies, procedures, and initiatives.
• Collaborates with other faculty members and program coordinators to ensure that the curriculum is current, relevant, and meets the program\'s objectives.
• Creates and grades assignments, exams, and other assessments.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and other academic information.
• Provides feedback and supports to students to help them achieve their academic and professional goals. Maintains open communication with students about their performance in the program.
• Offers support to students outside of class, such as office hours or online discussion forums, to help them succeed in the course.
• Stays up-to-date with industry developments and trends to ensure that the program remains relevant and competitive. Conducts research to ensure that program content is up-to-date and relevant.
• Attends faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and other higher college events as required.
• Serves as an academic advisor to students and participate in other student-centered activities.
• Participates in program and department meetings to discuss curriculum, assessment, and other academic issues.
• Participates in university-wide committees or initiatives related to teaching and learning, to help promote best practices and improve student outcomes.
• Serves as a mentor to other faculty members or student teachers, offering guidance and support on teaching practices and pedagogy.
• Perform any other relevant task as directed by direct superior.

Qualifications

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and/or Experience

Academic background includes a minimum of a bachelor\'s and Master\'s degree in Medical Laboratory Science Disciplines. PhD in Medical Laboratory Science Disciplines is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of Teaching and/or industrial experience and specialized clinical experience.

Preferred minimum of 2 years of university level teaching experience.

Mandatory 3 years of specialized clinical experience in the field of Medical Laboratory Science.

Licenses/Certificates:

Industrial licensure would be advantageous.

A certification or fellowship or diploma in teaching/e-learning technologies or other pedagogical area.

Active membership of a professional body would be advantageous

Language Skills

English communications and presentation skills are a must.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty members, clients and the general public.

• Yearly Ticket Travel Allowance will be paid on an annual basis as per the HCT Human Resources Policy.

• Education Allowance: Annual tuition fees of AED 60,000/- per family with a cap of AED 45,000/- per child, as per applicable policies and procedures. The following fees can be claimed later on: Tuition, Books, Uniform, Registration, School Transportation fees.
• Health Insurance for Self, Spouse and dependent Children (up to 3 children) as per the HCT Human Resources Policy. The health insurance covers medicals, dental and optical as well.

• Annual Leave subject to the approved HCT Academic Calendar:
• The start date for the Faculty position is August 07, 2023 and is subject to the issuance of the HCT visa.
