The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately reviewing and assigning standard codes for diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in compliance with international coding standards and DOH/DHA regulations. The role ensures accurate clinical documentation, supports proper billing and reimbursement, and contributes to maintaining high-quality health information management practices at Amana Healthcare.
Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.

• Ensure coding compliance with DOH/DHA, JCI, and international standards.

• Verify that diagnoses and procedures documented are complete, consistent, and supported.

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to clarify documentation.

• Support accurate billing and reimbursement processes by submitting timely coded data.

• Conduct regular coding audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

• Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records, or related field.

• Relevant experience in a hospital/medical center environment within UAE.

• Professional coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) required.

• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and medical terminology.
