Financial and administrative duties
Process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and other fees.
Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately.
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
Update patient demographic and insurance information in the practice management system.
Maintain patient accounts by updating personal and financial information.
Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
Assist with the processing and filing of insurance claims.
Perform general administrative tasks like data entry and filing.
Patient and customer service duties
Greet patients and assist with check-in/check-out procedures.
Answer patient questions about payment options, assistance programs, and services.
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments.
Confirm appointments by contacting patients one day prior.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
Additional responsibilities
Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
Help patients who are in distress by responding to emergencies and solving problems.
Coordinate with medical staff to manage appointment flow and urgent cases.
Order and manage office supplies and equipment.
