JOB OVERVIEW:
For managing the cost aspects of mechanical systems within construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that mechanical components such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and piping are accurately estimated, cost-controlled, and delivered within budget.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cost Estimation & Budgeting
Prepare Detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ):
Accurately quantify and cost mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and piping, based on project drawings and specifications.
Develop Cost Estimates:
Provide detailed cost estimates for mechanical works during the design and pre-construction phases.
Budget Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of project budgets and monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to financial plans.
Contract Administration
Review Subcontractor Quotations:
Analyze and evaluate subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
Tender Documentation:
Assist in the preparation and evaluation of tender documents and contracts.
Manage Variations and Claims:
Oversee the management of variations and claims, ensuring proper documentation and timely resolution.
Measurement & Quantity Take-Offs
Conduct Quantity Take-Offs:
Perform accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.
Site Measurements:
Conduct site visits to verify quantities and assess work progress.
Cost Control & Reporting
Monitor Project Costs:
Track and monitor project costs to ensure adherence to the budget.
Identify Cost-Saving Opportunities:
Proactively identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
Prepare Cost Reports:
Develop and present regular cost reports and forecasts to stakeholders.
Risk Management
Identify Project Risks:
Recognize potential risks related to mechanical systems and propose mitigation strategies.
Ensure Compliance:
Ensure all mechanical works comply with safety standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
Collaboration & Coordination
Coordinate with Project Teams:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
Liaise with Authorities:
Coordinate with local authorities to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. Professional certifications in Quantity Surveying (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB) are advantageous.
Professional Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical quantity surveying within the UAE construction industry. Experience in large-scale projects is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite. Familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM tools is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
