1. Job Purpose Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Mechanical Project Engineer with extensive GCC experience to manage and oversee the on-site execution of HVAC and Plumbing systems for our construction projects. This role requires a deep technical knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to coordinate all mechanical site activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
2. Key Responsibilities & Duties
A. Project Planning & Coordination:

  • Review all project documentation (drawings, specs, BOQ) and develop a detailed project execution plan for mechanical works.
  • Prepare method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and risk assessments for all mechanical activities.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to develop a realistic project schedule and resource allocation plan.
B. On-Site Management & Supervision:
  • Lead and supervise the site mechanical team, including foremen, supervisors, and technicians.
  • Oversee all on-site installation, fabrication, testing, and commissioning of HVAC and Plumbing systems.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in strict compliance with project specifications, approved shop drawings, and relevant international/local codes and standards.
  • Monitor daily progress, productivity, and workmanship, taking corrective action as needed.
C. Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve any technical issues related to HVAC and plumbing systems that arise during construction.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor technical submittals (method statements, material approvals, etc.).
  • Liaise with consultants and clients to address technical queries and secure approvals for materials and work procedures.
D. Coordination & Interface Management:
  • Act as the primary point of coordination for mechanical works with other disciplines (Civil, Electrical, Architecture).
  • Attend and actively contribute to daily/weekly coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and main contractors.
  • Manage the interface between different MEP systems and other building components to avoid clashes and ensure a seamless installation.
E. Quality, Safety & Compliance:
  • Enforce a strict safety culture on site, ensuring all personnel adhere to company and project HSE policies.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure all mechanical installations meet the project's quality requirements.
  • Manage the material delivery, storage, and handling on site to prevent damage and loss.
F. Reporting & Documentation:
  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports for the Project Manager.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries, inspection requests, and as-built drawings.
  • Monitor material usage and assist in the preparation of variation orders and claims, providing technical justification.
3. Qualifications, Skills & Competencies
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in managing Mechanical (HVAC & Plumbing) construction projects, with a strong and verifiable background in the GCC region.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems (from central plants to terminal units) and Plumbing systems (including public health engineering).
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, means and methods, and MEP coordination.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex construction and shop drawings.
  • Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and a strong command of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of local authority submission and approval processes in the GCC.
