Mechanical Manager

Direct Manager: Engineering & Tendering Director

Department: Engineering

Location: Sharjah

Prime Objective

Working under the Engineering department to ensure projects are delivered on time and with the best design.

Key Responsibilities: (as follows but not limited to)

Under the supervision of the Engineering director or Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Dept Manager will have 2 main responsibilities:

1/ As Mechanical Dept manager, he organizes the work of the mechanical team and develops the mechanical and piping design of water or waste water treatment plants in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards and company procedures.

His/her main responsibilities/tasks are as follows:

\xc2\xb7 Arrange the workload of the different team members

\xc2\xb7 Ensure compliance with department procedure and quality of the produced documents.

\xc2\xb7 Analysis of the project specifications and codes requirements

\xc2\xb7 Review the mechanical engineering documents prepared by the team

\xc2\xb7 Preparation of the mechanical and piping design when required

\xc2\xb7 Definition of the mechanical and piping specifications to be used for drafting and supplier inquiries

\xc2\xb7 Supervise draftsmen work and mechanical engineer work

2/ As Engineering project manager, he coordinates the different engineering disciplines working on a specific project, ensure interface with the project manager and monitor/control the allocated man-hours for engineering of the project

\xc2\xb7 Supervises the issue of engineering deliverables and approves the key engineering documents;

\xc2\xb7 Ensures effective interdisciplinary coordination in particular through weekly meetings. Takes the necessary technical decisions in case of unresolved conflicts between disciplines. Controls that the engineering team properly interfaces with other project members;

\xc2\xb7 Ensures that engineering deliverables are submitted on time

\xc2\xb7 Ensures effective technical coordination with Client\xe2\x80\x99s representatives and as such participates to good communication with Client;

\xc2\xb7 Follow-up engineering budget and controls it during the course of the project. Alerts the Project Management in case of variation and suggests if needed mitigation measures;

\xc2\xb7 Initiates Value engineering and best practice;

Mechanical engineers and mechanical Draftsmen

Qualification, Skills & Experience

\xc2\xb7 Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering

\xc2\xb7 Preferable Experience in water or wastewater projects

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of industry codes and standard (Power, Oil&Gaz)

\xc2\xb7 Able to design independently, with minor instructions from head of department

\xc2\xb7 Capable of supervisory capacity for planning and organizing,

\xc2\xb7 Able to lead a small team;

\xc2\xb7 On site practical experience is an advantage

\xc2\xb7 Fluent in English/ Arabic language is a plus

\xc2\xb7 Mastering relevant needed applications technologies.
