Mechanical Inspector - AECOM - Dubai, UAE
Position Overview
This Mechanical Inspector role supports major civil, roads and infrastructure projects across Dubai by supervising mechanical works, verifying compliance with drawings and standards, conducting detailed inspections, and coordinating with authorities and project teams. The position ensures that all mechanical installations, testing and commissioning activities meet project specifications, safety requirements and authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review mechanical contract documents, design drawings, specifications and updates
  • Inspect mechanical activities including piping, HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, irrigation and pump station systems
  • Verify contractor compliance with drawings, standards and mechanical codes
  • Conduct daily site inspections and prepare detailed inspection reports
  • Recommend corrective actions for non-conformances and verify closeout
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors and consultants to resolve technical issues
  • Verify delivered materials and mechanical equipment meet submittals and standards
  • Monitor installation, testing and commissioning activities and verify test results
  • Ensure all mechanical works follow approved method statements and quality procedures
  • Document equipment installation, inspections, testing and progress details
  • Track delivery, storage and installation of mechanical materials
  • Assist RE and ARE in implementing site instructions and quality control procedures
  • Perform site measurements, pressure tests and survey checks for mechanical installations
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to quality and safety regulations
  • Ensure compliance with authority requirements from DM, DEWA, DCD, RTA and Etihad Water & Electricity
  • Participate in shutdowns, tie-ins and utility connections ensuring safety compliance
  • Support preparation and review of as-built drawings, O&M manuals and handover documentation
  • Participate in meetings and support the Resident Engineer on mechanical matters
Ideal Profile
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 7 years experience as a Mechanical Inspector in civil, roads or infrastructure projects
  • Minimum 3 years UAE experience with strong understanding of Dubai authority procedures
  • Knowledge of international and UAE mechanical codes and standards
  • Strong inspection, reporting and coordination skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain accurate documentation
