Job Description

Position Summary

The Mechanical Helper supports mechanical technicians, mechanics, and maintenance teams in performing routine maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment used in oil and gas operations. This role ensures safe and efficient execution of tasks on drilling rigs, production facilities, pipelines, or processing plants.

Key Responsibilities

Assist mechanical technicians in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of pumps, compressors, engines, valves, rotating equipment, and other mechanical systems. Prepare tools, materials, and equipment required for daily maintenance activities. Perform basic mechanical tasks such as tightening bolts, cleaning components, lubricating machinery, and replacing filters or simple parts. Support in dismantling and reassembly of equipment under supervision. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the workshop, equipment rooms, and job sites. Follow all company safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and permit-to-work requirements. Assist in transporting tools and mechanical components to work locations. Conduct routine inspections and report abnormalities, leaks, unusual noises, or equipment defects. Help maintain inventory of mechanical tools, spare parts, and consumables. Work effectively with the maintenance team during shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency repairs.

Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or technical/vocational certificate in mechanical or industrial trades (preferred). Basic knowledge of mechanical tools, equipment, and maintenance practices. Ability to read and follow instructions, safety guidelines, and simple technical drawings. Good physical fitness; able to lift, carry, climb, and work in confined spaces or at heights. Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and in remote oil & gas environments.

Work Environment

Onshore/offshore oil and gas installations, drilling rigs, production platforms, refineries, or pipeline sites. Exposure to noise, heavy machinery, rotating equipment, and varying weather conditions. Strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.
