Overview:

Responsible for the design review, coordination, supervision, and commissioning of all mechanical systems in high-rise building projects, ensuring compliance with project specs, authority requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:



Responsible for the technical management, construction coordination, quality control, and schedule management of all mechanical systems (including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting) on the project. Ensure all mechanical installations comply with design specifications, contract requirements, and local regulations.

Thoroughly review and understand all mechanical discipline construction drawings, design specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure their constructability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.

Identify potential design conflicts (e.g., with other disciplines or structural elements) and propose solutions.

Ensure that the installation and testing of all mechanical systems strictly adhere to national, industry, and local building and fire codes.

Prepare, review, and submit technical documents, construction methodologies, material submittals, and equipment specifications.

Coordinate with the design institute, general contractor, subcontractors, and suppliers for necessary shop drawings and detailing, especially for pipe/duct routing coordination and equipment placement, to optimize space utilization and construction efficiency.

Assist in developing the overall construction master schedule and detailed weekly/monthly plans for mechanical systems.

Track and supervise the mechanical subcontractor's on-site construction progress to ensure timely completion of key milestones.

On-Site Quality Management:

Conduct daily site inspections, supervise the quality of work and workmanship of subcontractors, ensuring installations comply with drawings and technical specifications.

Lead or participate in the inspe ction and acceptance of critical concealed works (e.g., embedded pipes, sleeves/penetrations).

Ensure all mechanical construction activities comply with project safety management requirements, providing safety technical instructions to subcontractors.

Serve as the primary coordinator for the mechanical discipline, responsible for resolving conflicts with other trades such as structural, electrical, and architectural finishes regarding construction interfaces and space allocation.

Supervise the installation and connection of all mechanical equipment (e.g., AHUs, pumps, heat exchangers, fans, and elevator mechanical components).

Organize and supervise the Individual Unit Testing and System Integrated Testing of mechanical systems (e.g., hydrostatic testing, water flow testing, ventilation system air volume/pressure testing, HVAC system trial run).

Organize and cooperate with the Owner, Consultant (Supervision), and government regulatory authorities for the final project completion and acceptance of mechanical systems.

Prepare and compile complete handover documentation, including as-built drawings, operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals, and acceptance records.

Assist in the selection, technical parameter comparison, and commercial negotiation for materials and equipment.

Manage the receiving, storage, and issuance of materials and equipment on-site to prevent damage and waste.

Evaluate the impact of design changes or site condition variations on the mechanical discipline and provide professional advice.

Prepare, review, and process mechanical engineering variation orders and claims.

Report work progress, potential risks, and major coordination issues requiring resolution to the Project Manager.

Conduct regular mechanical discipline meetings to coordinate work between subcontractors and the internal team.

Qualifications & Skills:



Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 5-10+ years of experience.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, firefighting, plumbing systems, and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA).

Proficient in AutoCAD/Revit and construction coordination.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and site management skills.
