Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer will join an experienced team of specialists working closely with multiple departments to ensure success of long-range goals and strategies. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Design Manager, Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, preparation of equipment specifications, computer-aided design, detailing, creating line layouts, troubleshooting, functionality, and improvement of our fully controlled farming systems and supporting equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the design, development, modification and implementation of equipment and processes to aid in the farming systems.
  • Responsible for the design of custom machine tools, components, and processes.
  • Responsible for the engineering designs required for the mechanical system and line layouts for the system and supporting equipment.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Experience with prototyping is a plus
  • Lead, coordinate and support new equipment integration and equipment modifications.
  • Hands on support of new and existing equipment and processes.
  • Collaborates with various teams establishing and executing design criteria with all stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals.
  • Assists with FAT requirements for equipment and systems, attends FAT testing of equipment.
  • Work according to project timelines and required processes,
  • Coordinate with vendors and develop detailed Requests for Quotation
  • Ensure current safety regulations are followed for all equipment used.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • BSc. or BE in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Master's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of experience in designing custom machine tools, work-holding fixtures and jigs, robotics, or factory automation
  • Previous experience in Food, Agriculture, or Agriculture Technology is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to work
  • Able to multitask and prioritize the workload
  • a flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced skills with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing GD&T.
  • An understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical controls as these relate to design of work-holding and special machine tools
  • Knowledge of cutting tools and manufacturing processes that relate to the food industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sanitary design principles is a plus
  • Creative and innovative mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency using design and parametric 3D modeling software (AutoCAD Inventor or SolidWorks). Applicants should be prepared to demonstrate a one-hour test on SolidWorks during the interview
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes including but not limited to thermoforming, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication and welding.
  • Experience in working on equipment that uses PLC controlled systems and ladder logic.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA codes is a requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of Food Safety and Quality (FSQ) codes is a plus
  • Knowledge of Emirati codes and regulations is a plus.
  • Experience with Project management software like Primavera, MS Project is a plus
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time in person position with normal work hours and workdays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
