Job Description

We are seeking a competent and proactive Mechanical Draftsman with 3 to 6 years of experience, ideally within Abu Dhabi or the UAE to produce detailed mechanical/MEP drawings, collaborate with engineering teams, and support design coordination and construction documentation at COENGR. The successful candidate must be ready to join immediately and contribute to ongoing and upcoming projects.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and prepare mechanical / MEP shop drawings, detail drawings, and layouts (HVAC ducting, piping, plumbing, fire-fighting systems, etc.) in compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes. Convert sketches, design calculations, and engineer directives into accurate technical drawings (2D and, when applicable, 3D/BIM). Coordinate mechanical drawings with other disciplines structural, electrical, architectural to resolve clashes and ensure integration. Produce equipment layouts, schedules, diagrams (e.g. AHU, pumps, FCU, duct risers, piping isometrics). Review and verify drawing packages (issued for construction, shop, as-built) and ensure consistency, correctness, and compliance with standards. Implement revisions and change orders, maintain drawing revision control, logs, backups, and version history. Prepare as-built drawings post installation and track field modifications. Conduct site visits (as required) to verify existing conditions, collect measurements, and interact with site teams to ensure drawing alignment. Liaise with design engineers, site engineers, consultant teams, and clients on drawing clarifications, coordination, and design integration. Ensure compliance with UAE local authority requirements, codes, and standards (e.g. TAQA, DEWA, DCD, etc.). Support the preparation of submittals, technical documents, and client submissions for mechanical systems. Maintain high level of accuracy, detail orientation, and quality control in all deliverables.

Qualifications & Experience

Must Have:

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Drafting, or equivalent technical qualification. 3 to 6 years of experience in mechanical/MEP drafting, preferably in the UAE / Abu Dhabi, with exposure to building services, HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, etc. Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) is essential; experience with Revit / BIM tools is a significant plus. Understanding of mechanical services design principles, standards, codes, and best practices. Capability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and engineering documents. Good knowledge of mechanical calculations and basic hand calculations for verifying designs. Demonstrated experience in coordination drawings and multidisciplinary integration. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under deadlines. Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written). Ability to join immediately (short notice).

Preferred / Advantageous:

Previous experience working in Abu Dhabi (or UAE) projects, with familiarity with local practices, authorities, and standards. Experience in site visits, as-built documentation, and field coordination. Knowledge of clash detection tools or BIM coordination. Exposure to large-scale building, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
