JOB OVERVIEW:
Mechanical Draftsman will be central to translating engineered designs into actionable construction drawings. You'll work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with UAE-specific codes across HVAC, plumbing, fire protection.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Drawing & Design
Create comprehensive mechanical drawings covering HVAC ductwork, plumbing systems, fire fighting layouts, riser diagrams, and plant room plans using CAD (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) software.
Documentation & Drawing Maintenance
Update and revise drawings based on feedback or design changes; organize drawing revisions, maintain logs, and ensure proper version control.
Architectural & Engineering Coordination
Work collaboratively with engineers, architects, and project managers to align designs with construction requirements. Use BIM tools for clash detection and design integration.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure drawings meet UAE-specific regulatory and authority standards (e.g., DEWA, DM, DCD) and comply with industry best practices.
Site Coordination
Perform site visits to verify existing conditions, gather measurements, and ensure accuracy of as-built documentation.
Multi-disciplinary Integration
Coordinate with other disciplines (structural, electrical, architectural) to ensure seamless design coordination and resolve any clash or integration issues.
Technical Support & Calculations
Occasionally assist with basic MEP calculations (e.g., for HVAC or plumbing), prepare rough sketches, and support quick on-site verifications.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain thorough records of drawings, revisions, and technical documentation; support preparation of deliverables for internal and client use.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or related field preferred. Certification in CAD tools is advantageous.
Experience
10+ years in mechanical drafting roles within construction, MEP, or engineering contexts UAE. Experience highly valued.
Technical Skills
High proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Revit or other BIM tools is often required. Solid understanding of MEP systems and drafting standards.
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work independently and under pressure.
