What Does a Mechanical Design Engineer Do in the UAE?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Azizi, you will conceptualize and design mechanical systems for high-rise towers and luxury developments across Dubai. You'll work directly from Azizi's award-winning Design Studio, ensuring compliance with local authority regulations while developing systems that meet world-class sustainability, safety, and functionality benchmarks.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Design and develop complete mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, and smoke control
- Calculate cooling loads using authority-approved software and tools
- Collaborate with Submittals Engineers to ensure documentation complies with DEWA, Trakhees, and other UAE authority requirements
- Review mechanical plans and ensure alignment with building codes and development objectives
- Coordinate with MEP suppliers to validate technical specifications and performance of selected equipment
- Contribute to internal design reviews and technical submissions throughout all design phases
- Maintain organized records of all mechanical design documentation and authority correspondence
What Skills Are Needed for a Mechanical Engineer in Dubai?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 7 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in the UAE or GCC
- Proven portfolio of work on high-rise buildings, luxury residences, hospitality, or mixed-use developments
Technical Competencies:
- Expertise in mechanical system design for air conditioning, smoke extraction, and ventilation
- Strong understanding of UAE regulations and local authority processes (DEWA, Trakhees, etc.)
- Proficient in using authority-approved HVAC design and load calculation software
- Familiar with mechanical equipment specifications, documentation, and system integration
Soft Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, design-driven environment
