Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Area Engineer with a background in Nuclear on a permanent basis, to be working Abu Dhabi.

Profile


Individual embedded within site core team responsible for all planning, preparation and execution of refuel outage on Nuclear Power Plant.
Capable to lead the team of supervisors (Mechanical/Piping/Valve/Fabrication) and ensure timely, quality, and safe maintenance overhauling, repair and testing of a wide range of mechanical stationary equipment in nuclear plant. Individual required to be conversant with power plant industry mechanical equipment/piping maintenance, codes/standards, HSE & Q regulations, and best shutdown practices.


Key responsibilities
  • Development and preparation of work packs for outage delivery,
  • Identify the relevant procedures and QHSE documentation to include in the work pack
  • Walk down the systems, check the physical layout and correctness of components. Ensure execution methodology is compatible with task method statements
  • Ensures with planning team that all jobs are planned and scheduled with appropriate resources for safe and effective execution of work during shutdown.
  • Identifies all interfaces which can effect execution of the task. Ensure interfaces are incorporated into the planning packages
  • Identify ancillary support systems (scaffolding, lagging, heat treatment, spares, tooling, NDT) required to complete the work.
  • Support site manager and senior section engineer to ensure pre-outage deliverables achieved
  • Perform outage preparation, coordination, execution and direct oversight of outage Supervisors and the maintenance craft work activities
  • Site walk down with Supervisors and craft workers to ensure effective handover of work packs.
  • Provide field oversight and coordination, assist with preparation of scope, logistics and control of work packages.
  • Provide input to and implement the Customer's on-site work instructions, early warnings, risk registers and variation orders
  • Ability to lead the team of Area Supervisors and craft resources to execute related activities pertaining to various types Mechanical equipment and piping.
  • Interface with the Customer's Task Managers and Field Coordinators to improve performance and incorporate OE for future outages.
  • Provide technical support where support for planning and execution of work scope
  • Participates in Pre-TA, Execution and Post TA meetings involving all stake holders and implements the outcome and job follow-up with his team.
  • Clearly understands Company HSE and Quality requirements, ensures observation of HSE regulations and guidelines by his team under supervision and promotes the use of safe work practices.
  • Liaises and interfaces with client and other contractors to ensure effective delivery of outage work packages
  • Coordinate/manages any engaged sub-contractors for execution of the scope.
  • Preparation of daily reports of overall status of his area of job scope to Senior Engineer /Site Manager and to Clients team as required.
  • Properly maintains records of shutdown work performed and work in progress, other related data etc.
Minimum requirements


  • Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Se ven years' experience in the Turnaround and Shutdown maintenance and inspection/repair/overhauling of major mechanical stationary equipment in power plant
  • Experience in the development of work packs in an planning an preparation environment
  • Experience of working in a craft or supervisory position in nuclear environment
  • Fluent English (Reading, Writing and Speaking), communication, Inter-personnel skills (IELTS 5.5)
  • Competent computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • IOSH Managing Safely
