We are seeking a motivated and driven Engineer to join our team who thinks quickly on his/her feet, is analytical and displays a logical thought process.
MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS:
Engineering Degree (Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural)
- UAE attested; no exceptions.
Must read construction drawings and understand technical specifications.
Must be able to do basic quantity take-offs and technical calculations.
Must be computer literate and fast with typing and navigation - knows how to operate Microsoft Office, email tools, scanners, printers, and ideally has exposure to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise or a similar ERP system.
Analytical and organized thinker - understands how to group materials across projects for cost and delivery efficiencies.
Must be a material planner, not just a buyer - can coordinate just-in-time delivery to sites (no warehousing).
Knowledge of UAE VAT, supplier invoices, and correct documentation requirements for FTA audit compliance.
Excellent communication skills - fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
The higher end of the salary range is reserved for candidates with strong UAE construction material market knowledge, vendor negotiation skills, and excellent organizational capabilities that require little to no training.
Job Responsibilities:
Material Sourcing & Evaluation
Source and evaluate construction, architectural, MEP, and finishing materials--both technical and commercial assessment required.
Identify alternative products or solutions when specified materials are unavailable.
Access and maintain use of the company's existing materials and vendor database.
Technical Coordination
Read drawings (civil, architectural, MEP) and understand BOQs and project specs.
Assist project engineers and site teams with material compatibility, selection, and specification clarifications.
Perform basic quantity take-offs, compare with budget, and flag variances.
Procurement Planning
Proactively plan purchases according to project timeline and site requirements.
Avoid material shortages or over-orders by aligning with project engineers.
Coordinate direct-to-site deliveries for all materials (no storage).
Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all supplier quotations, invoices, and delivery notes are complete and properly formatted.
Maintain full VAT compliance on all purchases (ensure VAT registration, tax invoice format, TRNs, etc.).
Keep a clean audit trail for FTA and internal review.
Vendor Management
Build and maintain strong vendor/supplier relationships across all material categories.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules based on project needs.
Follow up on delivery timelines and quality issues, escalating to management when necessary.
Preferred Skills & Attributes
Familiar with construction project timelines, submittals, and material submittal registers.
Experience with materials used in UAE villas, commercial buildings, infrastructure projects.
Strong local knowledge of suppliers in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and specialty product vendors.
Practical, quick-acting, and resourceful - able to work under pressure and find solutions fast.
Ideally has worked in a small-to-mid-size contracting company where multitasking was required.
