Position Overview
The Materials Inspector role at AECOM Dubai supports quality assurance and contract compliance on roads and bridges projects by inspecting site works, materials, and construction activities to ensure alignment with approved drawings, specifications, and UAE standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect site conditions prior to commencement of construction activities and verify compatibility with designed permanent works
  • Identify obstructions and document existing site conditions that may be affected by construction activities
  • Ensure existing structures, utilities, property, and landscaping are adequately protected
  • Review materials delivered to site for compliance with approved samples, specifications, and submittals
  • Verify proper storage and handling of materials and report discrepancies to the Resident Engineer
  • Inspect temporary and permanent works to confirm compliance with contract documents and approved shop drawings
  • Prepare daily inspection logs and reports, maintaining accurate records of inspections, tests, and executed works
  • Perform duties in accordance with Contract Administration Procedures Manual requirements
  • Monitor site safety practices and construction progress and report concerns to the Resident Engineer
  • Assist with inspection of completed works, preparation of punch lists, and monitoring of testing, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Review RFIs and contractor requests for variances and provide technical recommendations
  • Read and interpret working drawings and specifications and enforce compliance on site
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant technical field
  • Minimum eight years of experience in laboratory materials testing and field inspection of construction materials
  • Relevant experience on roads and bridges projects
  • Middle East project experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, testing procedures, and quality standards
  • Ability to prepare clear inspection reports and maintain detailed site records
  • Familiarity with contract documentation, specifications, and site inspection procedures
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to quality and safety
