Evaluate and recommend metals and finishes based on design intent, structural integrity, durability, and visual appeal Develop and maintain material specifications, finish catalogues, and testing standards for architectural applications Collaborate with designers, architects, and engineers to ensure material compatibility with both functional and aesthetic goals Provide technical input for sourcing structural and decorative materials, including stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and specialty finishes Investigate and resolve material-related issues such as corrosion, surface degradation, or coating failure Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials and fabricated components to ensure compliance with design and finish standards Stay updated on innovations in material science, surface treatments, and industry certifications relevant to architectural metalwork Advise on performance and maintenance considerations for exposed metals in diverse environments

Requirements

:

Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering,

or Chemical Engineering with relevant materials experience

2-5 years of experience in architectural metalwork, facade, or related construction/fabrication sectors Strong knowledge of metals, finishes, and corrosion behavior in exterior/interior environments Familiarity with standards such as ASTM, EN, BS for metalwork and coatings Ability to interpret technical drawings and translate material needs into practical solutions Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
