Position Overview

Role Summary
The Material Inspector oversees material approvals, testing, and usage across roadworks, bridges, drainage, utilities, and associated civil works. Working closely with the Material Engineer and Resident Engineer, the role ensures only approved materials are used on site and that testing, documentation, and storage practices meet required standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify all construction materials delivered to site for compliance with RTA specifications, approved submittals, and contract requirements
  • Check material source approvals, delivery notes, batch certificates, and test reports prior to acceptance
  • Carry out sampling and witness laboratory and field tests for soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel, and other civil materials in line with approved ITPs
  • Ensure materials used for roadworks, bridges, culverts, drainage, and utility works conform to approved specifications and drawings
  • Monitor storage, handling, and protection of materials to prevent damage, contamination, or segregation
  • Verify compliance with RTA-approved suppliers, manufacturers, and testing laboratories
  • Coordinate with the Material Engineer and Site Engineer on testing schedules, approvals, and material-related issues
  • Inspect asphalt paving, concrete works, earthworks, and backfilling to confirm correct materials and workmanship
  • Review and process Work Inspection Requests related to materials and civil works
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, test results, and material logs for QA QC and as-built documentation
  • Identify non-conforming materials, issue NCRs and site observations, and follow up on corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements during material handling, sampling, and testing
  • Monitor material usage and quantities to avoid wastage or deviation from approved specifications
  • Support RTA inspections and audits by providing documentation and site assistance
  • Prepare daily reports on material inspections, testing status, and site activities
Ideal Profile
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the UAE on transportation or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of RTA standards and UAE local authority procedures and regulations
  • Proven experience in materials inspection, testing, and QA QC documentation
  • Detail-oriented with strong coordination and reporting skills
