Position Overview
AECOM is seeking a Material Inspector in Dubai, UAE to support microtunneling and underground utility infrastructure projects. This role focuses on inspection, verification, and quality control of jacking pipes, lubrication systems, grouting materials, and structural components to ensure full compliance with approved specifications and Dubai authority standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect delivered materials including RCC, GRP, and steel jacking pipes, bentonite lubrication materials, concrete, grout, thrust blocks, rails, cutters, and fittings
• Verify manufacturer certificates, test reports, compliance documents, and batch numbers prior to approval
• Ensure materials comply with approved shop drawings, method statements, and authority regulations
• Monitor proper storage, stacking, and labeling to prevent contamination or damage
• Verify handling and lifting practices to avoid cracking, deformation, or coating damage
• Inspect material usage during pipe jacking, shaft construction, thrust wall installation, lubrication injection, and grouting works
• Confirm correct joint sealing, lubrication application, and backfilling materials
• Ensure no unapproved materials are used on site
• Coordinate with QA QC teams, site engineers, contractors, and storekeepers for material control
• Support consultant and client inspections
• Monitor shelf life and expiry dates of chemicals and grout additives
• Identify material risks affecting tunneling alignment, jacking force, durability, and settlement control
• Ensure compliance with project quality plans, ITPs, safety standards, and environmental requirements

Ideal Profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Material Inspector
• At least 5 years of UAE experience on microtunneling projects in Dubai
• Dubai Central Laboratory approval mandatory
• Strong knowledge of underground utility material specifications and testing standards
• Advanced understanding of QA QC procedures and Inspection and Test Plans
• Experience verifying compliance with RTA, Dubai Municipality, and DEWA standards
