Materials Engineer**

Dubai, UAE

Parsons is looking for an accomplished **Materials Engineer** to join our team! In this role you will get to provide all necessary assistance to the construction team with respect to all materials submittals, approvals, testing, sampling, etc. He will participate in the quality control of materials including all the laboratory and field testing, acceptance of used materials, checking and accepting all remedial and corrective measures. He will supervise the works of the Materials Inspectors.

**What You'll Be Doing:**

+ Possesses extensive knowledge on concrete mix design and batching plants calibration/operation.

+ Checking the suitability of concrete mix designs.

+ Holds competent knowledge on asphalt mix design and batching plants calibration/operation.

+ Relevant experience with buildings' materials selection, including but not limited to; doors, windows, paints, flooring, roof waterproofing systems, electrical, plumbing and sanitary installations.

+ Have full awareness of testing requirements.

+ Check material submissions and properly process approvals.

+ Visit factories to ensure proper manufacture and testing of materials produced.

+ Ensure materials delivered are as approved and are properly stored.

+ Assist in the development of testing procedures.

+ Keep up-to-date with new appropriate materials.

+ Working with the wider engineering team to identify, develop and implement appropriate materials improvement initiatives to improve safety, performance and cost

+ Carrying out design reviews, investigations and testing to determine whether subcontractor chosen materials and processes are compliant

+ Approving the best combination of materials for specific purposes

+ Assessing materials for specific qualities such as electrical conductivity, durability and renewability

+ Evaluating and contrasting material properties to determine feasibility or acceptability of proposed material substitutions

+ Reviewing the implications of introducing new standards or revisions to existing standards on the materials used

+ Identifying non-conforming work and / or materials, maintaining records and ensuring corrective action is taken by the contractors and closing out each issue

+ Resolving technical queries regarding materials performance

+ Reviewing and approving the contractors' quality plans and procedures

+ Considering the implications for waste and other environmental pollution issues of any product or process

+ Reviewing and approving material test results to assess their resistance to environmental conditions such as heat, corrosion or chemicals

+ Preparing technical reports for supplier contact reviews

+ Managing the supplier audit plan and carrying out audits

+ Attending sites to assist with advice where failures and specification deviations have occurred e.g. cracking and surface defects in concrete, settlement and low test results in earthworks.

**What Required Skills You'll Bring:**

+ **Bachelor's degree** in **Civil or Architect Engineering** with **1** **0+ years demonstrable experience** in in **Materials** and **Quality Control** with **experience in managing the materials** related to **building works** in the Emirates of UAE **preferably Dubai experience)** .

+ Experience as a Construction Material Coordinator on a large civil/structural and/or industrial construction project is preferred.

+ Requires a working knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a familiarity with industry practices.

+ Proficient PC skills including a familiarity with various software used for inventory control, such as Document and Materials Controls System (DMCS).

+ Excellent written & spoken English language skills.
