. The Material Engineer will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the quality of all construction materials in compliance with project specifications, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect and test incoming construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications and international standards.
Prepare and submit
Material Submittals
for consultant/engineer approval and monitor the approval process.
Coordinate with
suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party laboratories
to ensure quality and accuracy of materials and test results.
Maintain accurate records of material inspections, test certificates, and compliance documentation in accordance with ISO and QA/QC requirements.
Provide on-site technical support for material-related quality issues and participate in
non-conformance investigations
and corrective actions.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Review material compliance with standards such as
ASTM, BS/BS EN, Dubai Municipality, and ADQCC
requirements.
Supervise sampling, mix design, and testing of major structural materials including
concrete, reinforcement steel, aggregates, and asphalt
.
Manage testing schedules, calibration records, and verification of test result accuracy.
Evaluate proposed material alternatives and provide technical recommendations.
Participate in
internal and external quality audits
to ensure material compliance with QA/QC systems and consultant expectations.
HSE Responsibilities
Ensure safe
storage, labeling, and handling
of construction materials, particularly hazardous substances (e.g., cement, paints, fuels).
Oversee proper
disposal of test samples and waste materials
in compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Report any material-related safety or environmental incidents and assist in implementing corrective measures.
Key Interactions
Work closely with the
Construction Department
to ensure only approved materials are used and material-related issues are resolved promptly.
Collaborate with the
Procurement Department
for vendor evaluation, material specifications, and quality assurance.
Coordinate with the
HSE Department
to ensure compliance with material handling and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in
Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering
, or related discipline.
Minimum
10 years of experience
in material engineering or QA/QC within the
construction industry
.
Strong knowledge of
construction materials testing, mix design, and quality control standards
.
Familiarity with UAE authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality, ADQCC, etc.).
Proficient in
MS Office
and
QA/QC documentation systems
.
Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
