Key Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and design documents to determine material requirements
  • Recommend suitable construction materials based on technical specifications, environmental conditions, durability, and cost considerations
  • Ensure all selected materials comply with applicable standards such as ASTM, BS, ISO, and client requirements
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for materials used on the project
  • Conduct inspections and oversee testing of materials to verify compliance with approved standards and specifications
  • Approve or reject materials based on test results, inspection findings, and project requirements
  • Monitor material quality during manufacturing, delivery, storage, and installation on site
  • Oversee laboratory and on-site testing of concrete, asphalt, steel, soil, aggregates, and other construction materials
  • Review and approve material test reports, certificates of compliance, and technical documentation
  • Identify, document, and manage non-conforming materials and ensure timely corrective actions
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to source materials from approved suppliers and evaluate vendor performance
  • Conduct supplier and manufacturer audits to verify compliance with quality standards
  • Identify opportunities to optimize material usage, reduce waste, and recommend cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality
  • Monitor material costs and ensure alignment with project budgets
  • Maintain accurate records of material approvals, test results, inspections, and quality control activities
  • Prepare and submit regular material quality and compliance reports to project management
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and certification bodies as required to ensure compliance with standards and regulations
  • Provide technical support to design engineers, site teams, and contractors on material-related matters
  • Investigate material defects, failures, or non-conformances and recommend preventive and corrective measures
  • Support training and mentoring of junior engineers, technicians, and site staff on material quality practices
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 12 years of construction experience, including at least 5 years on large-scale infrastructure projects in the UAE
  • Strong knowledge of construction material properties, testing methods, and international standards
  • Proven ability to analyze test data, identify material issues, and recommend effective solutions
  • Experience with quality management systems, material testing software, and project documentation tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills in addressing material-related challenges
