The Material Engineer is responsible for reviewing project specifications, drawings, and standards and preparing material submittals, prequalification (PQ) documents, and technical inputs for RFQ packages.
The role ensures that all proposed materials and suppliers are fully compliant with project requirements, specifications, and applicable codes, supporting efficient and risk-controlled procurement.
The Material Engineer acts as a technical interface between Engineering, Procurement, and Suppliers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of all material-related documentation.
Review project specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical requirements
Prepare material submittals in accordance with contract and project specifications
Prepare supplier and material prequalification (PQ) documents
Ensure all material submittals comply with:
+ Project specifications
+ Applicable codes and standards
+ Employer and consultant requirements Coordinate with design and engineering teams to clarify technical requirements
Assist Procurement Engineer in preparation of
RFQ documents
, including:
+ Selection of relevant drawings
+ Selection of applicable specifications
+ Technical scope descriptions Review supplier technical data sheets, catalogues, and compliance statements
Prepare technical comparison sheets and compliance matrices
Coordinate technical clarifications between suppliers and engineering teams
Maintain organized records of material submittals, approvals, and revisions
Support timely resubmission and closure of comments from consultants or clients
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical)
Knowledge in international codes and standards relevant to construction projects is a plus
Minimum 5 years experience in material engineering or technical procurement support
Experience on building or infrastructure projects preferred
Experience in MEP materials is an advantage
