Job Description

The Material Engineer is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and testing construction and engineering materials to ensure they meet the required specifications, standards, and performance criteria. The role involves providing technical support in material selection, conducting laboratory and field tests, preparing material submittals, and ensuring compliance with project and regulatory requirements.

Preferred to be at western region, Abu Dhabi

Key Responsibilities Material Selection & Evaluation

Review project specifications and identify appropriate materials for construction and engineering applications. Evaluate materials such as concrete, asphalt, steel, aggregates, soils, and coatings to ensure compliance with standards. Recommend suitable materials based on technical, environmental, and economic considerations. Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to verify material quality and compliance.

Testing & Quality Assurance

Conduct laboratory and field testing of materials to determine properties and performance. Review and approve material test reports, certifications, and third-party inspection documents. Ensure materials conform to applicable standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS, EN, ISO, etc.). Monitor material production, delivery, and storage to ensure quality control.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare material submittals and obtain approvals from consultants/clients. Maintain material testing logs, calibration records, and traceability documentation. Prepare and present technical reports on material performance and quality compliance. Maintain updated records of approved materials and suppliers.

Coordination & Support

Work closely with design, procurement, and construction teams to resolve material-related issues. Liaise with laboratories, consultants, and vendors regarding testing and certifications. Provide technical advice to site engineers on the proper use and handling of materials. Support the implementation of project quality control plans and procedures.
