Job Title: Material Engineer

Job Summary:

The Material Engineer is responsible for managing all material-related activities on the project, including review and preparation of material submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and authority regulations. The role involves close coordination with consultants, suppliers, procurement teams, and site staff to ensure timely approval, delivery, and proper installation of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Review project specifications and BOQ to identify material requirements. Prepare and submit material submittals, samples, and technical data sheets for consultant/client approval. Coordinate with procurement team to ensure materials comply with approved specifications and are delivered on time. Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain required documentation and certifications (e.g., ASTM, BS, UL, Civil Defense). Follow up on submittal status with consultants and expedite approvals. Assist in preparing and maintaining a material tracking log and ensure material delivery schedules align with site progress. Support QA/QC and site teams during material inspections and testing. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and authority requirements (DCD, ADM, DEWA, DM, etc.). Provide technical input during value engineering or material substitution discussions. Participate in internal and external coordination meetings to address material-related issues.

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering field. 3-6 years of experience in material engineering within the construction or MEP industry. Familiarity with local authority regulations and approval procedures (e.g., DCD, DM, ADM). Proficient in MS Office and document control systems (e.g., Aconex, Procore). Strong knowledge of material standards (ASTM, BS, ISO) and certifications. Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.

Preferred Attributes:

Experience in large-scale or fast-track projects. Knowledge of sustainable and green building materials. Technical background in both architectural and MEP materials.
