The Mason is responsible for performing skilled masonry work related to construction, alteration, and repair of structures such as walls, floors, partitions, arches, and other surfaces using bricks, blocks, tiles, and natural or artificial stone. The role requires precision, physical strength, and knowledge of construction materials and techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stones, and other masonry units to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
Mix and prepare mortar, cement, or grout, ensuring correct proportions.
Apply and finish surfaces with plaster, stucco, or tiles as required.
Cut, shape, and dress materials using hand tools and power tools.
Check alignment, verticality, and level of masonry works using plumb bobs, levels, and squares.
Repair and maintain existing masonry structures.
Ensure safe use of tools and adherence to safety standards on-site.
Collaborate with other skilled workers (carpenters, steel fixers, painters, etc.) as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
