Job Description

The Mason cum Painter is responsible for the construction, repair, finishing, and maintenance of masonry structures as well as the preparation and painting of surfaces within a facility. This role ensures that both structural integrity and visual aesthetics are maintained by performing masonry work with materials such as bricks, tiles, concrete, and stone, alongside painting and finishing tasks on walls, ceilings, and other surfaces.

Key Responsibilities:Masonry Duties:

Perform routine inspection and maintenance of existing masonry structures, identifying and repairing damages, cracks, or deterioration. Construct, install, and repair masonry elements including walls, floors, partitions, and decorative stone/brickwork based on architectural drawings and specifications. Prepare and mix mortar, cement, or adhesives to secure masonry materials. Cut, shape, and lay bricks, blocks, tiles, or natural stones in precise patterns. Customize masonry elements as per facility requirements. Maintain accurate records of masonry-related repairs, installations, and inspections.

Painting Duties:

Prepare surfaces (scraping, sanding, plastering, or priming) before painting. Apply paints, varnishes, or finishes to walls, ceilings, doors, and other facility surfaces using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Mix and match paints to achieve desired colors and finishes. Repair cracks, holes, or damaged surfaces before repainting. Perform touch-up painting and repainting as part of facility maintenance. Maintain cleanliness of painting tools, equipment, and work areas.

General Duties:

Respond promptly to maintenance requests related to masonry and painting tasks. Coordinate with facility management staff to support overall maintenance operations. Follow safety regulations and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project timelines, requirements, and issues.

Qualifications & Skills:

Proven experience as a mason and painter in facility management, construction, or maintenance settings. Knowledge of masonry techniques, materials, and tools. Skilled in surface preparation, paint mixing, and application methods. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Attention to detail with a focus on durability and aesthetics. Physical stamina to perform manual tasks. Commitment to workplace safety.
