Key Responsibilities
Construct and Repair Masonry Structures:
Build and repair various masonry structures, including walls, floors, foundations, and decorative stonework using bricks, blocks, and stones.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately determine project dimensions, layout, and required materials.
Mix and Prepare Materials:
Mix and prepare mortar, cement, and other building materials in accordance with project requirements and safety standards.
Masonry Construction:
Precisely measure, cut, and shape masonry materials to meet construction plans and specifications.
Key Structural Elements:
Build and repair key structural elements such as chimneys, fireplaces, and retaining walls with exceptional craftsmanship.
Collaboration:
Coordinate and collaborate with other tradespeople and contractors to ensure the timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
Compliance with Codes and Regulations:
Ensure all masonry work complies with local building codes and industry regulations.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and safe storage of masonry tools and equipment.
Work Area Organization:
Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment for the team.
Site Preparation:
Assist in preparing the job site, ensuring all necessary tools and materials are ready for use.
Industry Knowledge:
Stay updated on new techniques and materials in the masonry industry to improve work quality.
Other Duties:
Perform additional tasks as required to support the efficient operation of construction projects.
Key Skills & Qualifications
Proven Experience:
Solid experience as a Mason, Bricklayer, or in a similar construction role, with hands-on experience in masonry work.
Material and Technique Knowledge:
Strong understanding of masonry materials, construction techniques, and equipment usage.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction specifications.
Masonry Skills:
Experience with a wide range of masonry tasks, such as laying bricks, stones, blocks, and working with mortar and cement.
Attention to Detail:
High level of precision and craftsmanship in all work performed.
Independent and Team Work:
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
Physical Stamina:
Strong physical endurance with the ability to work in various weather conditions and on demanding projects.
Communication Skills:
Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, supervisors, and team members.
