Role Overview
The Manager Technical SMS (MT-SMS) reports to the Senior Manager Technical Safety & Compliance (SMTSC). The MT-SMS serves as the interface with the Corporate Safety and Quality Department, ensuring adherence to the procedures outlined in the Safety & Quality Management Manual System (SQMM) and actively participating in the Corporate Safety Management System. The role requires effective communication across various leadership levels and external agencies. Accountabilities
Regulatory Coordination: Collaborate with the Corporate Safety and Quality Department to coordinate with the Competent Authority and other agencies on regulations impacting the Corporate SMS. Liaise with internal departments to develop, implement, and update safety policies and procedures. Promotion of Safety Culture: Promote compliance with regulations, quality control, SMS, safety reporting, and safety culture within EY Technical. Support the review and setting of Safety Objectives and Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) annually, and communicate these to personnel. Reporting: Provide regular safety and quality activity reports to Post Holders and executives, and contribute data to key safety meetings like MESAG. Data Analysis and Recommendations: Manage trend analysis of safety data, advise on risk mitigation, and establish assurance mechanisms. Information Dissemination: Act as a conduit for safety information to contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders. Meeting Administration: Administer MESAG meetings, coordinate with the Safety Review Board (SRB), and maintain relationships with Safety Action Group (SAG) stakeholders. Safety Communications: Lead safety briefings within EY Technical, discussing hazards, trends, and incidents. Support for Business Units: Assist in hazard identification, risk assessment, mitigation, and assurance activities. Education & Experience
BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Engineering, Aviation, or Maintenance Engineer License with Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance & Engineering, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 10 years in the aviation industry, including at least 5 years managing or implementing an SMS. Extensive knowledge of safety management systems and completion of SMS training. Strong understanding of civil aviation regulations (e.g., CAR X, CAR M, CAR 145, CAR 66, CAR 147, EASA/FAA). Experience in safety and quality audits and inspections.
