Job Description

Manags all activities and staff within the Medical Informatics Section, for staying informed about new IT developments and evolving business requirements, supporting procurement and managing the implementation, changes and deployment of medical-centric applications, and for recommending appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems. In addition, oversees the Level 3 maintenance and support function of the Medical Informatics Section. Ensures that the application-based solutions of the Medical Informatics satisfy the needs of the business as a whole, and of individual clients. Responsible for addressing employee engagement and retention in the Medical Informatics Section and for developing people in HITA.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1.Stays informed of new IT developments and evolving business requirements related to Medical Informatics and recommends systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems (such as cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, gynecology..etc). 2.Understands /defines and refines scope and objectives. 3.Defines application functional and technical requirements and maintaining functional and technical specifications and documents relating to Medical Informatics systems. 4.Oversees the Level 3 maintenance and support function of the Medical Informatics Section and ensures that end-users’ needs are being met. 5.Determines how clinical systems can support clinical operations and identify ways to enhance clinical operations through medical applications. 6.Creates and communicates development plans for medical informatics. 7.Provides vendor management support to IT Administration for Medical Informatics including providing technical guidance on Request for Proposal (RFPs), assisting with vendor selection, and managing Service-Level Agreement (SLAs). 8.Oversees enhancement projects and ensures that the solutions developed to meet the requirements of all business and functional units in scope. 9.Oversees unit, functional, performance, and user acceptance testing (if applicable) and user sign-off. 10.Establish and maintain user requirements documents, amendments, and user acceptance criteria for applications. 11.Address employee engagement and retention in the Medical Informatics Section and develops HITA’s staff. 12.Manages and develops the performance of Medical Informatics staff through performance management, counselling, motivating, training and development and orientation of new employees. 13.Follows prescribed system safety and security procedures of computing environment. 14.Participates in self and others’ education, training and development, as applicable. 15.Follows all hospital related policies and procedures. 16.Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
PhD, Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Health Sciences, or a related discipline is required.
Experience Required
Four (4) years of related experience including three (3) years in a supervisory position with PhD, seven (7) years of similar qualifications with Master’s Degree, or nine (9) years of similar qualifications with Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.
