Purpose



Ensure RGA delivers market-leading service in both health underwriting and claims management, paying valid claims promptly and underwriting risks accurately and professionally. Identify, validate, investigate, and manage suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims and applications. Develop and provide clients with tools and services that position RGA as the partner of choice for health underwriting and claims management. Support clients in achieving their goals for risk assessment, claims investigation, management, and reinsurance matters. Ensure RGA's philosophy in underwriting, reinsurance, and claims assessment is understood and adopted in the market. Ensure clients fulfill requirements for automatic business in both underwriting and claims.

Scope



Middle East life& health insurance market, with expertise leveraged for other RGA entities or affiliates as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting



Assess and authorize health underwriting cases, ensuring alignment with RGA and client standards. Own day-to-day underwriting decisions to achieve market-leading turnaround times. Develop and build underwriting capabilities for clients, supporting their risk selection and management. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and regulatory developments in health underwriting. Collaborate with medical professionals, underwriters, and claims assessors to ensure holistic risk assessment. Provide input to treaty wordings and product development from an underwriting perspective. Set and manage underwriting authority limits and auto binding limits. Support the development and maintenance of underwriting manuals, standards, and controls. Deliver training and guidance to client and partner underwriting personnel.

Claims



Assess and authorize health claims, ensuring compliance with RGA and client standards and service timelines. Manage the claims assessment process, including complex, high-value, early, and foreign claims. Build and deliver claims management capabilities for clients, including trend analysis and reporting. Maintain strong relationships with clients, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), and internal teams. Analyze claims bordereaux and single claims, identifying undesirable trends and recommending corrective actions. Ensure claims department produces relevant reports and statistics for management and clients. Participate in quality assurance reviews of clients and TPAs, verifying accuracy and compliance. Provide training to claims personnel of clients and partners.

Reinsurance& Treaty Oversight



Review and update treaty monitoring modules with reported claims and underwriting activity. Provide updates on claims and underwriting trends to actuaries and internal stakeholders. Maintain thorough knowledge of Middle East reinsurance practices and RGA treaty protocols. Contribute to treaty wording development for both claims and underwriting issues. Conduct quality assurance reviews of treaty accounts.

Technical& Management



Routinely analyze trends in underwriting and claims, providing reports and statistics to management. Respond to and implement actions from quality assurance reviews. Participate in the development of systems and manuals for underwriting and claims. Identify and address operational issues in service delivery, reporting, and quality assurance. Manage pending claims and underwriting files to ensure timely resolution.

Marketing& Interactions



Develop and maintain strong working relationships with claims assessors, underwriters, managers, regulators, medical service providers, and senior leaders at target life insurance companies. Work closely with Business Development, Pricing, and Operations teams to ensure input to quotes, treaties, and risk management. Contribute to team spirit and participate actively in RGA's global initiatives for underwriting and claims.

Reporting



Reports to the Head of Claims and Health Underwriting at RGA ME.
