Job Description

1. Scope of Responsibilities

Supervise 1-4 proposals and 1-3 projects depending on the size of proposal/project and ensure quality and technical excellence and provide key managerial, administrative, and technical support and boost morale of the Team members for the jobs under supervision.

2. Primary Duties

\xc2\xb7 Facilitate and co-ordinate manpower recruitment process in consultation with HOD.

\xc2\xb7 Conduct regular technical interviews for potential new hires.

\xc2\xb7 Provide necessary guidance on planning of all engineering activities and manpower resources

associated with proposals/ projects under responsibility.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure manpower resources of Electrical Engineers Team are adequate and are utilized efficiently.

\xc2\xb7 Establish performance criteria, agree performance objectives with the Team and develop competency of team members.

\xc2\xb7 Organize internal quality audits/peer reviews for monitoring quality and ensure timely close-out of

\xc2\xb7 actions.

\xc2\xb7 Provide advice and guidance to engineers and designers on important technical issues as well as managerial matters.

\xc2\xb7 Provide necessary support and guidance to Project Control, Construction and Commissioning.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in Contract Review process and provide required inputs to Lead Engineer.

\xc2\xb7 Perform responsibilities of Lead Engineer in event of large project.

\xc2\xb7 Develop Electrical engineering related Company Standards.

\xc2\xb7 Interact with peers from other offices across globe on regular basis to ensure consistency of work

across all offices

\xc2\xb7 Engage with Quality Assurance for quality issues. Ensure strict compliance with Company\xe2\x80\x99s Quality

procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Guide and support lead engineers to carry out risk/reward/technical integrity studies of the systems

\xc2\xb7 related to his discipline.

\xc2\xb7 Interface and regularly meet with client and PEM on technical issues, conduct internal staff progress

\xc2\xb7 meetings.

\xc2\xb7 Participate in Design Reviews, SAFOP, constructability reviews on need basis.

\xc2\xb7 Assist Head of Department on activities related to manpower resources, recruitment, organization

development, preparation of new standards and procedures, etc. Identify strengths and weaknesses of the team members and recommend to HOD for training and development for the staff under supervision.

\xc2\xb7 Provide necessary technical guidance to lead engineer on the job and all team members on job to

ensure smooth working both home office and offsite offices

\xc2\xb7 Interact with leads on issues connected with Quality, Productivity, Progress, Man-hours, Technical integrity, schedules, extra hours, additional cost, variation order, mile stone dates, work share with other offices etc.

\xc2\xb7 Interact with other discipline within Sharjah and other engineering centres and client as and when required in close consultation with lead. Review all key documents before issue and ensure that all systems are in place for preparation of engineering documents. Attend monthly engineering review meeting with Project Engineering Managers.

\xc2\xb7 Review engineering problems and guide the team in selecting safe efficient and economical solution. Also work as Subject Matter Expert (SME) if assigned by HOD.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure strict compliance with Company\xe2\x80\x99s ISO Quality procedures.

3. Job/Cost Impact

\xc2\xb7 Leads the activities in converting the project from concept to detailed engineering.

\xc2\xb7 Works within Project Budget requirements.

\xc2\xb7 Accountable for overall discipline related activities for the successful completion of project within allotted schedule, manpower and costs.

4. Decision Making Authority

\xc2\xb7 Decisions on the technical matters of the specified project & internal work distribution.

\xc2\xb7 Consults with Project Engineering Manager and Group Manager on main issues which may affect

budget, schedule, resources, layout and equipment specifications.

\xc2\xb7 May make recommendations on mobilization/demobilization of personnel.

5. Supervisory Responsibility

\xc2\xb7 Responsible for managing supervisors.

\xc2\xb7 Include those with a high degree of professional specialist expertise.

\xc2\xb7 engineering and is aware of commercial, contractual and administrative aspects of the department\xe2\x80\x99s scope of work.

\xc2\xb7 Promotes innovation, departmental improvement and team working for continuous improvement of knowledge base, cost-consciousness, and Quality and Safety Procedures.

\xc2\xb7 Ensures and facilitates an awareness of HSSE in all design and activities across the discipline.

8. Physical Effort and Work Environment

\xc2\xb7 Duties performed in the Main Office mostly in air-conditioned surroundings. Occasionally incumbent would require travelling to sites and vendor workshops.

\xc2\xb7 Approximately 40% of time is spent on the computer.

\xc2\xb7 A large percentage of time spent in coordination, supervising, meetings, reviews and contacts.

9. Minimum Job Requirement

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in electrical engineering.

\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 20 years of detail design engineering related experience preferable from a background in working for consultancy organizations or EPC for petrochemical or for the Oil and Gas Industry. Out of this at least five years shall be of managerial position.

\xc2\xb7 Possess good knowledge of relevant IEC, BS, IEEE, API etc. codes and standards. Shall possess ability to grasp other international standards and client specifications as demanded by work.
