Initial Job Scope:

  • To provide back up and assistance to the regional service manager.
  • Calculate, prepare, and send out service quotations and technical proposals. Provide proactive follow up with customers after submittal and help to turn enquiries into confirmed orders.
  • Create new service project job number in AX.
  • Prepare and distribute workshop and field service reports.
  • Processing of CM engine and parts warranty claims.
  • Perform Technical Communicator role. Compile, store, and archive service information and service bulletins both internal and external and communicate to internal and external customers.
  • Vendor coordination and interaction. Screening new and existing vendors, obtaining quotations, submitting purchase requests, follow PO and payment approval process.
  • Assist with EHS related tasks including compliance with local policies and permitting requirements, maintaining licenses and permits, EHS Self- Assessments, developing and implementing EHS Excellence goal plans, HOP Walks, safety walks, CI card process.
  • Covering MaK ME 24-hour customer hot line number.
  • Coordinate workshop crane and pressure vessel annual recertification.
  • Coordinate annual recalibration and recertification of all applicable workshop and field service equipment i.e. torque wrenches, gauges, calipers,
  • Back-up for reporting EHS incidents and near misses into SIRS.
  • Submit high risk travel approval requests to Corporate Security and follow up on corporate approval process.
  • Coordinate service job attendance with customers. Monitor vessel location and ETA, scheduling, manpower and tooling requirement, manpower planning, arranging flights, accommodation, visas, travel and EHS requirements.
  • Arrange for necessary shipyard, worksite, facility entry documentation and permits.
  • Arrange shipment of service tooling from Dubai to job site including export/import. Track the status and ETA of return service tooling shipments.
  • Provide project management support to regional service manager to assist in managing service projects, attend customer meetings etc.
  • Designated back-up to regional service manager when RSM is on vacation, sick or medical leave etc. Expected to cover a wide variety of tasks including service job coordination, supervision, invoicing, attending customer meetings, temporary project management assignments.
  • Ordering spare parts required for the workshop overhauling and repair jobs.
  • Oversee AV service exchange component program inventory and status including initial sales process, core status, core return inspections, core rebuilding, workshop reports submittals, close out with customers.
  • Coordinate local transportation of parts and components to and from vessels to workshop.
  • Assist RSM to finalize and prepare service invoices.
  • Assist in providing weekly service utilization hours.
Position Requirements:
  • Degree, diploma holder, or appropriate maritime certification preferred with at least 10-years prior experience.
  • Suitable job-related work experience will also be considered.
  • Strong marine, oil and gas, or land-based power plant experience with hands-on operation, maintenance, repair and servicing background and experience.
  • Must have good technical experience in servicing, overhauling, rebuilding, and repair of large medium speed marine engines and components.
  • Previous experience in managing or supervising marine or land-based service teams and workshops preferred.
  • Appropriate leadership capabilities.
  • Requires a good degree of diplomatic soft-skills and communication.
  • Team player, listening skills.
  • Required to work beyond normal office working hours.
  • Required to travel when necessary.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. In addition, Arabic and French language skills would also be beneficial.
  • Personal computer skills and familiarity with standard software packages is required.
