/Role Profile

Job Title: Maintenance Workshop Supervisor (Survey Workshop)

Reports to: Technical Manager (Survey Workshop)

Direct reports: Senior Base Engineer, Base Engineer, Junior Base Engineer

Dotted line / shared reporting to: Technical Manager, MSC Service Line Manager

Key Accountabilities:

Survey Workshop Supervision

Provide day to day hands-on supervision of the Survey Workshop Engineers to ensure sufficient, clean, safe, and defect-free work area, and survey equipment are available for service in line with Company Policies, Regulatory Standards and Statutory guidelines, deadlines and requirements. This includes maintaining activities through Equipment & Tools Database, Servicing Schedule & Records, Monthly/ daily plans, etc.

Allocate manpower within the survey workshop and for technical support on sites/other locations in order to maximise utilisation and keep overtime within budgeted limits.

Control and allocate the flow of work through the survey workshop to make the best use of staff, equipment and other resources.

Ensure that all survey equipment and machinery are maintained adequately and there is sufficient operational equipment to meet business requirements.

Ensure that pro-active planned maintenance is carried out on survey equipment and machinery to prevent problems occurring during operation or site works.

Ensure that any survey equipment and machinery failures are investigated, documented, and resolved in a timely manner.

Ensure that the survey workshop housekeeping and operating practices are of a high standard and that special tools and equipment is well maintained and stowed after use.

Manage inventory of survey and workshop equipment, tools, and spares, and oversee supply, storage, and issue.

Ensure that all survey equipment and machinery have a full documented history of work carried out to satisfy our company requirements for annual audits.

Administer registration and certification of survey equipment and machinery to meet statutory safety and other compliance requirements. This includes maintaining relevant current certifications of all equipment as up to date and properly logged and accessible for all relevant parties involved.

Ensure cost-effective functioning of the survey workshop, and all related maintenance/ repair work carried out under own supervision.

Act as a technical expert in the Survey Workshop, advising staff on tasks and sharing knowledge through mentoring, coaching, and regular activities discussions and toolbox talks.

Supervise the fabrication and/or modification of survey equipment deployment systems, and specialist proprietary Fugro equipment; design and implement modifications to existing engineering design drawings.

Implement/execute management decisions as directed.

People Management

Establish and maintain positive working relationships with project managers, project leaders and department heads; lead, train and motivate own team.

Carry out staff PAR appraisals allocated by the Technical Manager or Service Line Manager.

Maintain a high performing engineering team and in particular take responsibility for supporting and advising technicians and coaching and mentoring of trainee engineers.

Assist the Technical Manager by dealing with HR issues as they arise and in accordance with company procedures, escalating more serious matters as appropriate.

Assist the Technical Manager with the recruitment of staff, when required.

Manage the Duty Engineer rotation plan and follow up on field support callouts.

Health and Safety compliance

Instill and maintain a strong health and safety culture amongst the Survey Workshop team with a good understanding of risk assessments and company and industry standards.

Ensure adherence to safety requirements according to the company's HSE policies and local health, safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications required:

Technical qualifications in Electronics Engineer

All Fugro Academy assigned training modules are completed and in date.

All HSSE training modules are completed and in date.

Skills / experience required to do the job:

At least 8 years of hands-on experience in a survey engineering workshop, of which at least 3 years in supervising a small team (3- 6 engineers).

Acting department lead: able to take the lead on daily task execution and department management during the absence of the Technical Manager.
