Logistics Director

We are working with a leading contracting company in the UAE, who have a rich history of delivering a wide range of high-quality residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects, to source a Logistics Director. They pride themselves on their commitment to excellence and their ability to meet the complex demands of modern construction.

The Logistics Director will be responsible for managing and supervising project logistics initiation from mobilization to close out and auditing onsite activities as well as overseeing Plant, Machinery, and Vehicles (PMV/MWS) and the Formwork and Scaffolding Department (FSD).

Responsibilities
  • Develop the construction methodology including procedures and sequence of work, from mobilization to close out.
  • Audit on-site activities.
  • Periodically oversee the project operations in line with the sequence of work.
  • Prepare the budget for the purchase and maintenance of plants, machineries, and vehicles, and periodical maintenance considering the efficiency and cost factors.
  • Actively value-engineer including review of construction technologies, minimizing waste, maximizing efficiency, and increasing productivity.
  • Work with Project Management Team to ensure the project is completed according to specifications and timeline.
  • Recommend formwork systems and evaluate their procurement.
  • Control and monitor the use and inventory of formwork and scaffolding in running projects and the transfer of materials to new projects.
  • Ensure the correct implementation of company procedures within Plant Machinery Vehicles (PMV) department.
  • Review project requirements for PMV resources and manage the hire or procurement of plant and equipment accordingly.
  • Manage PMV profit and loss performance.
  • Ensure timely infrastructure and operational logistical support to the projects.
  • Ensure coordination between the project and the sub-contractors and compliance of policies and procedures by the sub-contractors
  • Prepare and implement logistic strategies and optimal use of resources with efficiency.
  • Ensure smooth movement of vehicles, materials, and equipment at projects through a Traffic Management Plan abiding with the company safety policy
  • Prepare internal and external logistics routes through the project phases focusing on the separation of vehicles, machinery, and people.
  • Plan and set up lay down areas and offloading points on projects.
  • Pre-plan the usage of key assets to ensure planned assets meet the needs of the program
  • Oversee the timely site mobilization and de-mobilization processes.
  • Prepare and implement an efficient operational plan for the main store and sub-stores.
  • Prepare a master plan for store management, especially for the mobilization & demobilization of materials and machineries.
Requirements
  • Engineering related degree and preferably MSc. in Construction and Building Engineering from an accredited institute or university.
  • Minimum 15 years\' experience and ideally 20+ years in the construction management field and solid construction experience on mega projects, preferably in UAE & Gulf area, with at least 7 years\' experience of working in a senior role, in a reputable contracting company.
  • Well-versed knowledge in advanced construction and building engineering, plant & equipment, resource, cost and time management, construction economics, productivity and performance management, Building Information Modelling and Artificial Intelligence applications in the construction industry.
  • Possess high knowledge in both planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Have an understanding of technical and legal matters.
  • Superior written and verbal communication, detail oriented, problem solver, active listening, research, analytical, multi-tasking skills, supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Computational, design skills including office & engineering software.
  • Experience of implementing and managing Projects Management System (PMS) on large construction projects, preferably on both vertical and horizontal mixed-use projects.
  • Experience of PMO, executive reporting and management systems.
  • Excellent organization, adaptability, responsiveness, sound judgement, cooperative, leadership, able to work both independently and in a team and work under pressure.
