Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ) is launching a new Business Innovation Center funded by an external partner and is searching for a LLM Business Case Developer to join their team. You will contribute to the center by providing support by collaborating closely with faculty/staff to identify, design, and develop innovative LLM-based prototypes for educational and research applications.
This role requires not just technical expertise, but also a business approach, with a strong focus on finding opportunities for LLM integration and building practical solutions. The ideal candidate should have experience in developing applications, particularly with LLMs, and be able to showcase some of these projects.
This is a one-year renewable position, with continuation contingent upon performance and institutional needs, and may occasionally require supporting engagements held during the weekend.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop business cases and simulation using LLMs in educational and research settings, ranging from classroom engagement tools to data-driven research methodologies.
Conduct workshops or training sessions for faculty to introduce LLM capabilities, brainstorm possible applications, and explore innovative solutions.
Collaborate with the IT team to ensure proper integration of projects with existing school infrastructure.
Participate and contribute to activities to support the mission of the center.
Qualifications and skills
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field required. Master's preferred.
Formal training in or experience in business.
Experience in LLM technologies, applications, and frameworks (e.g., GPT, BERT, Transformers)
Advanced Python programming, including NLP libraries (e.g., spaCy, NLTK)
Proficiency in web development (e.g., Flask, Django, JavaScript)
Machine learning fundamentals
UI/UX design principles for prototyping
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent project management skill using Agile project management methodologies
Familiarity with educational technology trends
