Be Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe execution of lifting operations, particularly in construction, oil and gas, marine, and industrial settings. Their primary role is to supervise crane and lifting activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning & Supervision
Review and approve lifting plans, method statements, and risk assessments.
Ensure all lifting operations comply with company policies and legal requirements
Supervise crane operators, riggers, and signalmen during lifting operations.
2. Safety Compliance
Conduct pre-lift meetings and toolbox talks.
Inspect lifting equipment (cranes, slings, shackles, etc.) for defects before use.
Stop unsafe lifting operations if hazards are identified.
3. Coordination & Communication
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and contractors to schedule lifts.
Ensure proper signaling and communication between the lifting team.
Verify ground conditions and load stability before operations.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain logs of lifting equipment certifications and inspections.
Report incidents, near-misses, and equipment failures.
Ensure all personnel involved have valid certifications.
5. Emergency Preparedness
Implement emergency procedures in case of accidents.
Ensure first aid and rescue measures are in place.
Requirements:
Certification: Valid lifting supervisor certification (e.g., CPCS, OPITO, LEEA, or equivalent).
Experience: Previous experience in crane and lifting operations (construction, oil & gas, etc.).
Knowledge: Familiarity with crane types (mobile, tower, crawler), rigging techniques, and load charts.
Safety Awareness:Strong understanding of risk assessments and permit-to-work systems.
Communication: Ability to lead a team and enforce safety protocols.
