Job Description

The Lifting Appointed Person (LAP) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all lifting operations on-site to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency. The role involves assessing lifting requirements, selecting appropriate lifting equipment, preparing lifting plans, and overseeing lifting activities in accordance with relevant safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and approve lifting plans, methods, and procedures in accordance with project specifications and safety regulations.
Assess and select suitable lifting equipment, cranes, and accessories.
Coordinate with site management, crane operators, and riggers to schedule lifting activities.
Ensure all lifting operations comply with safety standards, including LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) and other relevant legislation.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard identifications related to lifting activities.
Supervise and monitor lifting operations, providing guidance to operators and riggers.
Maintain records of inspections, certifications, and lifting activities.
Conduct or oversee regular inspections, maintenance, and safety checks of lifting equipment.
Provide training and guidance to site personnel on safe lifting practices.
Investigate incidents or near-misses related to lifting operations and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience:
Recognized certification as a Lifting Appointed Person or equivalent (e.g., CPCS, NPORS)
Proven experience in planning and supervising lifting operations in construction or industrial settings.
In-depth knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging techniques, and safety standards.
Strong understanding of site safety procedures and legislation.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
