To ensure all lifting operations are properly planned, risk-assessed, supervised, and executed in accordance with legal and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lifting Operation Planning:
Prepare detailed lifting plans and method statements.
Assess the risks involved and implement necessary control measures.
Select appropriate lifting equipment and lifting accessories.
Coordination & Supervision:
Coordinate with crane operators, riggers, and signalers to ensure safe lifting practices.
Supervise critical lifting activities to ensure adherence to plan and standards.
Liaise with clients, engineers, and HSE teams for lifting operations.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure lifting activities comply with national regulations (e.g., LOLER, PUWER) and company safety procedures.
Conduct toolbox talks and briefings before lifts.
Inspect lifting equipment certifications and ensure validity.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain lifting plans, risk assessments, lift permits, and lifting equipment records.
Investigate and report near misses or incidents related to lifting activities.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Certified as a
Lifting Appointed Person
(e.g., LEEA or CPCS accredited).
Strong knowledge of lifting equipment, cranes, and rigging accessories.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in lifting operations.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and lifting plans.
Good communication and leadership skills.
Familiarity with industry standards such as BS 7121 and relevant HSE guidelines.
