Job Role
As a Lifeguard, you are responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of swimmers.
To ensure safety at the pools. This includes making the swimming area safe, by getting rid of dangerous objects, encouraging safe play in the water.
At the pool area you will uphold the rules of the pool, deal with medical emergencies, make sure that the pool is sanitary and safe, and even send unruly student and staff out of the pool area if they are engaging in dangerous or illegal activities.
Must know CPR and first aid and be able to administer any treatment required to save the swimmer. Inspect facilities for cleanliness, complete general pool cleaning and maintenance duties at regular points throughout the days.
Ensure swimmers follow safe swimming practice; enforce and adhere to pool rules and regulations Follow emergency action plan and procedures when required
Inspect the safety equipment, life ring, first aid box, resuscitation mask etc. It is also mandatory to regularly monitor the quality of pool water to keep it clear, hygienic and safe without the presence of any objects that could harm swimmers.
Reporting any variances outside of the allowed water testing parameters (ph., chlorin etc.).
Ensuring that the pool is locked to prevent non authorized access.
Conduct open and closing checks.
To have certain qualifications and physical attributes.
For instance, LG need to be a strong swimmer and be physically fit and healthy.
LG must be strong enough to pull people out of the water and must be able to use the safety equipment comfortably and confidently.
LG should have is to be patient.
Looking out over the water for hours at a time can be tiring, so LG need to have the ability to remain calm and patient when on duty.
Previous experience in a similar environment
Qualifications
Have 2 Year experience at any aquatic facility related to lifeguard operations. Able to swim 8 lengths of a 25-meter pool in 5 minutes or less (this will be tested). Computer literate
