Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated

LSA/FFA Technician

to join our team at Digital Marine Systems in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, servicing, testing, and certification of life-saving and fire-fighting equipment in accordance with international maritime safety standards, SOLAS requirements, and class society regulations. The role involves working onboard vessels and offshore facilities to ensure that all safety and fire-fighting appliances are fully functional and compliant.

Key Responsibilities

Life-Saving Appliances (LSA):

Perform routine annual and periodic inspections, servicing, and certification of

lifeboats, rescue boats, fast rescue craft, and launching appliances

. Conduct

dynamic and static load testing

of lifeboat launching systems and related equipment. Inspect and maintain

liferafts

(throw-overboard, davit-launched, freefall) and ensure accurate record-keeping for compliance. Repair, overhaul, and service liferaft components as per class/flag and manufacturer specifications.

Fire-Fighting Appliances (FFA):

Inspect, test, service, and certify

portable and fixed firefighting systems

, including fire extinguishers, CO?, foam, water mist, FM-200/Novec systems, and dry powder systems. Conduct

hydrostatic testing and refilling

of gas cylinders and breathing apparatus in line with standards. Maintain and certify personal protective equipment such as SCBA, EEBD, life jackets, immersion suits, and oxygen systems.

Technical Support & Documentation:

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and rectify faults in LSA and FFA equipment promptly and effectively. Maintain detailed service records and reports to support statutory compliance and audits. Coordinate with marine engineers, vessel crews, clients, and relevant authorities during inspections and service assignments.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all work is performed in compliance with

SOLAS

,

IMO

, statutory, flag-state, and classification society regulations. Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and quality management systems at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

Diploma, Technical Certification, or Engineering degree (mechanical/electrical/marine preferred). Proven experience (typically 1

-5 years

) in LSA/FFA inspection, maintenance, and servicing in the maritime sector. Strong technical understanding of lifeboat, liferaft, and fire-fighting systems, including testing tools and procedures. Good command of English and effective communication skills.
