Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice on maritime and shipping regulations, compliance, and contractual matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate shipping agreements, charter contracts, and marine insurance policies.
Represent clients in maritime disputes, including cargo claims, vessel arrests, and salvage operations.
Conduct legal research on maritime conventions, environmental laws, and port regulations.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, shipping companies, insurers, and port officials.
Assist in litigation, arbitration, and mediation related to maritime law.
Ensure compliance with international maritime conventions and domestic shipping laws.
Handle legal aspects of ship financing, registration, and ownership transfers.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law (LLB/LLM) with specialization in Maritime/Shipping Law.
3 of experience in maritime legal practice.
Strong knowledge of
IMO regulations, UNCLOS, SOLAS, MARPOL, and other maritime conventions
.
Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
Experience in dispute resolution and maritime litigation.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams and regulatory bodies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with
shipping companies, maritime insurers, or port authorities
.
Membership in relevant legal associations (e.g.,
International Maritime Law Association
).
Familiarity with
admiralty law, ship financing, and marine environmental regulations
.
