Quality of Learning & Teaching - The effective delivery of modules within SAE Programs:
Lecturers are tasked with the effective delivery and assessment of modules to support student success and learning. In addition to this, lecturers at SAE play an active role in developing the transferable skills of students for lifelong success. It is essential lecturers maintain currency in relation to learning and teaching approaches and teaching with technology alongside their specific areas of content expertise. This currency is informed by the policies and procedures of the organisation. Lecturers are expected to use various strategies to understand the needs of learners and adjust the delivery of modules to suit their needs.
Collegial Practice - Building capacity within the organisation via active participation with peers and colleagues:
Collegial practice is also about building capacity within the organisation. By sharing curriculum resources, techniques and experiences with their colleagues across the organisation, lecturers play a pivotal role in the continuous improvement of delivery and curriculum at SAE. Lecturers also actively participate in building the profile of SAE by participating in activities such as information nights, conferences, and other activities as directed.
Pastoral Care - Engagement of students:
Lecturers are in a key position to develop student behavioural participation, motivation and preparedness to undertake study. In specific instances, this extends to cases where lecturers help connect and re-engage marginalised and/or uninterested students or redirect them to the most appropriate internal or external service. All faculty play an essential role in identifying student needs and relaying this information to their colleagues in order to support the success of entire student cohorts.
Key Challenges include, but are not limited to:
Provide the best possible standards of educational experience to students in line with the Institute's curriculum, policies and procedures
Maintain currency of knowledge in line with SAE's professional development framework
Maintain a professional manner at all times
Work with the Academic Director and/or Head of Department, Student Services, Campus Manager and other key stakeholders in the delivery of modules at the campus
Develop and maintain strong and effective stakeholder consultation
Participate in promotional events as reasonably required
Ongoing student pastoral care
Other duties as required commensurate with the skills and responsibility of this role
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, subject-relevant lectures and practical workshops that inspire students and equip them with current industry skills
Provide personalised academic support, mentoring and guiding local and international students through their creative projects, offering constructive feedback to foster innovation, technical proficiency and professional growth
Contribute to the design and development of accredited higher education curriculum, ensuring it meets academic standards and aligns with industry trends, working with professionals to integrate new technologies and practices into course content
Actively promote SAE's achievements, students, and staff within the professional community to strengthen the Institute's profile, engaging with the wider creative industry to maintain SAE's strong connection to current practices and opportunities.
Contribute to academic research and industry engagement, leveraging connections within the creative media sector to enrich the learning experience and promote student opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
A postgraduate qualification, preferably at Master's level (or higher)
A high level of professional industry practice in creative media industries with an established portfolio of work
Teaching or training experience either in a higher education or professional environment
Experience in IT and Cyber Security Fundamentals
Technical knowledge across cybersecurity principles, networking, databases (SQL), hardware, and software fundamentals
Ability to convey foundational IT and cybersecurity concepts effectively and guide students through practical, hands-on exercises (especially those aligned with CompTIA certification standards)
Strong foundation in Software Development Fundamentals
Expertise in software development methodologies, particularly Agile, with familiarity in tools like JIRA for project management
Demonstrated practical experience in software development or systems analysis, including Agile frameworks, requirements gathering, and project scoping
Strong ability to teach both technical and collaborative aspects of software development with emphasis on real-world application
Proficiency in using industry-standard software development and project management tools such as JIRA, Trello, or other Agile platforms
Passion for helping students reach their full academic potential while delivering an outstanding student experience
High level of agile thinking, problem-solving ability, and exceptional organisational and communication skills
Desirable Skills / Extras:
Five years tertiary teaching experience or relevant adult education/training is preferred, though not mandatory
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Experience leading a team
Mobile games and/or app development experience
Experience with game asset creation
