Description Inclusion Teacher Role Profile Purpose of Role Star International School, Al Twar is looking to recruit a strong, resilient and innovative Inclusion Teacher to join our growing school in August 2023.

Inclusion Teacher Key Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role:
To support young people at Star International School Al Qusais with their learning and development including: o Promoting academic and social targets o Encouraging students to become more independent in their learning o Providing support for young people\'s emotional, social and physical welfare o Encouraging the inclusion of young people in all aspects of school life
General Responsibilities: \xef\x82\xb7 To support student during lesson time and during 1:1 interventions in line with the needs of the student \xef\x82\xb7 To deliver interventions and small group sessions in support of the wider curriculum \xef\x82\xb7 To assess progress against agreed SMART Targets including updating evidence via the Kinteract platform \xef\x82\xb7 To provide high quality support to students within your interventions \xef\x82\xb7 To monitor and report progress over time using the school\'s Kinteract and IEP processes \xef\x82\xb7 To contribute to the planning, delivery and running of our Inclusion extra-curricular enrichment offer \xef\x82\xb7 A flexible approach to supporting school duties will be required \xef\x82\xb7 To provide support to the wider school as required, including covering lessons if required
Professional responsibilities To support learning and behaviour within the classroom alongside a class teacher, taking an active role in supporting the ongoing development of the young people; \xef\x82\xb7 To carry out interventions or targeted pieces of work, to support the learning of young people \xef\x82\xb7 To contribute to discussions about the progress of young people with teachers, parents and other professionals \xef\x82\xb7 To take an active role and responsibility when supervising and supporting young people. \xef\x82\xb7 To carry out and complete administrative duties alongside office staff as are relevant to the role \xef\x82\xb7 To support the smooth running of the school by carrying out duties, as required \xef\x82\xb7 To work creatively and therapeutically with young people with a wide range of complex SEN, some of whom may present with challenging and/or delayed development \xef\x82\xb7 To work co-operatively with other professionals to meet the needs of the students \xef\x82\xb7 To have a willingness to operate flexibly within the role, which may mean reallocation to a different class or group of young people without notice in order to provide the best outcomes and support \xef\x82\xb7 To promote and safeguard the welfare of students that you are responsible for or come into contact with \xef\x82\xb7 To carry out positive handling techniques \xef\x82\xb7 To support the uploading of student progress evidence for assessment \xef\x82\xb7 To develop relationships with young people \xef\x82\xb7 To support young people and other staff in promoting the achievement of goals and outcomes identified in students IEP\xe2\x80\x99s and Learning Profiles \xef\x82\xb7 To promote the ethos of the Inclusion department including Zones of Regulation, Emotion Coaching, Token economy and The Restorative Approach \xef\x82\xb7 To attend and contribute to meetings as required \xef\x82\xb7 To actively gain an understanding of students individual special needs and communicate to staff \xef\x82\xb7 To liaise closely with all staff in order to share information about the students you are supporting
\xef\x82\xb7 To ensure any urgent safeguarding concerns are raised immediately with the DSL or deputies to ensure prompt and appropriate action is taken \xef\x82\xb7 To communicate with your line manager regularly \xef\x82\xb7 To participate in appropriate and relevant training as identified by the line manager or the Senior Leadership Team \xef\x82\xb7 To carry out any reasonable requests made by the line manager of Senior Leadership Team \xef\x82\xb7 To carry out all duties in the context of, and in compliance with school policies \xef\x82\xb7 To ensure that you are up to date with all relevant safeguarding changes, and competed the ISP safeguarding training
The above-mentioned duties are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out other relevant and/or reasonable duties as directed by the Senior Leadership Team or their Line Manager, commensurate with the skills, abilities and grade of the post. Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Science teaching or support experience in GCSE and A Level \xef\x82\xb7 Experience of delivering interventions/curriculum within a school setting \xef\x82\xb7 Experience of working with young people with SEN \xef\x82\xb7 Experience of working effectively with the parents /carers of young people \xef\x82\xb7 Commitment to ensuring that all children are well safeguarded, supported and guided in both their personal development and academic \xef\x82\xb7 Experience of working within schools Good understanding of teaching and learning principles \xef\x82\xb7 Good understanding of the emotional and psychological needs of young people \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to work creatively and therapeutically with children with a wide range of complex SEN, some of whom may show challenging behaviours \xef\x82\xb7 An ability to use ICT effectively \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with adults and young people \xef\x82\xb7 The ability to work flexibly as part of a team and to work cooperatively and collaboratively \xef\x82\xb7 Evidence of a good record of attendance and punctuality, and an ability to cope under pressure \xef\x82\xb7 Work constructively as part of a team understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within the team Energy, ambition and enthusiasm with a willingness to develop new skills \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to establish inclusive, respectful, supportive and constructive relationships with young people \xef\x82\xb7 Commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people \xef\x82\xb7 Ability to relate to young people and adults \xef\x82\xb7 Willingness to undertake any training required for the development of this role
