Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced

Lead Technical Safety Engineer

to join our Oil & Gas project team in Qatar. The successful candidate will act as a senior point of contact, managing all

Technical Safety engineering deliverables

across one or multiple projects. This leadership role involves guiding a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with international standards, and liaising with clients, partners, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the

single point of contact

for all technical safety activities on assigned projects. Supervise and mentor Technical Safety Engineers and designers in project execution. Prepare, review, and approve: HSE plans and design basis documents Safety philosophies Engineering calculations Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) drawings Active Fire Protection (AFP) & Passive Fire Protection (PFP) documents Oversee and participate in

safety studies and workshops

, ensuring compliance with client requirements. Review technical deliverables, including: Safety layouts (F&G Layouts, HAC Layouts) F&G Cause & Effect Matrices Safety-related datasheets and MTOs Ensure adherence to

Shell DEPs, NFPA, API, and other international safety codes and standards

. Review procurement-related documents such as

Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, and vendor documentation

. Liaise with

owners, PMT/PMC, JV partners, vendors, subcontractors, and satellite offices

for project coordination. Assist Chief/HOD with preparation of

engineering control documents

, deliverable lists, manhour estimates, project schedules, and technical reviews. Manage assigned work scope to ensure quality, schedule, and budget adherence.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering

from an accredited university.

15+ years of experience

in detailed engineering for Oil & Gas projects (greenfield & brownfield), including offshore facilities. At least

10 years of experience in offshore brownfield modifications

and wellhead platforms.

Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or Lead Engineer role

. Strong expertise in

Technical Safety engineering

with proven leadership in delivering large-scale projects. Full knowledge of

Shell DEPs, NFPA, API, and international codes and standards

. Hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing

safety deliverables

(safety philosophies, HSE studies, cause & effect matrices, safety layouts, AFP & PFP docs). Strong client-facing skills with prior experience in

design reviews, safety workshops, and vendor coordination

. Proficiency in safety engineering tools and software used in the Oil & Gas sector.
