The Directed Energy Research Center of the Technology Innovation Institute is looking for Lead Metamaterial Researcher who will integrate the Stealth Division within the Electromagnetic R&D Department.
The job may include traveling overseas, on occasion for short periods, participating in conferences, visits of suppliers or partners, training, etc.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will perform activities such as:

  • Provide technical guidance and support across multiple projects, focusing on metamaterial-based solutions for Radar Cross-Section (RCS) reduction or enhancement. This includes overseeing projects involving EM simulations, measurement techniques, and performance analysis.
  • Develop solutions that address specific performance requirements for RCS reduction or enhancement.
  • Manage the prototyping process, refine designs based on test results, and guide projects from concept development to final manufacturing. Ensure designs are optimized for performance and reliability.
  • Lead efforts to explore new applications and enhance existing designs for stealth technology.
  • Generate detailed technical reports and maintain accurate documentation throughout all project phases.
  • Present findings, progress updates, and recommendations to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Promote open dialogue and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Participate in cross-disciplinary discussions within the DERC activity domain.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned, supporting the overall objectives of the division.
Skills required for the job:
  • Strong background in electromagnetic theory and wave propagation.
  • Expertise in metamaterial design, prototyping, and testing.
  • Knowledge of radar cross-section analysis (preferred).
  • Solid foundation in circuit theory.
  • Proficiency in using RF test equipment, including network analyzers, antennas, and other related instrumentation.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as Ansys HFSS SBR+, CST, or equivalent software.
  • Experience in testing within an anechoic chamber (preferred).
  • Proficiency in signal processing languages such as Python, or MATLAB (preferred).
  • Proven experience in leading projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you will need to meet the following requirements.
  • Engineer's or master's degree in electrical engineering, applied physics or related fields
  • At least 5 years of relevant full-time experience in electromagnetics, circuit theory, or related technologies.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in metamaterial design, prototyping, or testing.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, sharing insights and promoting collaboration
