Position Overview
The Lead Mechanical Engineer (Static & Rotating) will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in the design, selection, and specification of mechanical equipment for oil & gas/petrochemical projects. This role requires extensive experience in both static and rotating equipment engineering within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project environments.
Required Experience

• Minimum 20 years of experience in the oil & gas/petrochemical industry
• Significant exposure to EPC projects
• Demonstrated expertise in both static and rotating equipment

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Eng or M.Eng)
• Relevant professional certifications are desirable (e.g., PE, CEng, API certifications)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering team in the design, selection, and specification of static and rotating equipment
• Review and approve mechanical engineering deliverables, including equipment specifications, datasheets, and technical bid evaluations
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
• Interface with clients, vendors, and contractors on technical matters
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project specifications
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, and other risk assessment studies
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical engineering problems
• Develop and implement mechanical engineering standards and procedures
• Conduct technical reviews of vendor documentation and drawings

Technical Expertise Required Static Equipment

• Pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks
• Piping systems and components
• Expertise in applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.)
• Materials selection for corrosive environments
• Stress analysis and mechanical integrity assessments

Rotating Equipment

• Pumps, compressors, turbines, and motors
• Mechanical seals and bearings
• Vibration analysis and condition monitoring
• Performance testing and commissioning
• Reliability and maintenance engineering

Skills & Attributes

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Experience with relevant engineering software and tools
• Knowledge of project management principles
• Understanding of HSE requirements in the oil & gas industry
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams

Working Conditions

• May require occasional travel to project sites, vendor facilities, or client locations
• May involve working in challenging environments, including offshore platforms or remote locations

Reporting Relationship

• Reports to: Engineering Manager / Project Director
• Supervises: Mechanical Engineers, Equipment Specialists
