The Mechanical and AerospaceEngineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a Lab Specialist in the above-mentioned area. The objective of the job and partial list of the tasks and responsibilities of the job are xefx82xa7 Prepare all materials (lab equipment, consumable, and etc) for laboratory sessions. xefx82xa7 Research, prepare tender materials, order, and setup/coordinate commission of new equipment. xefx82xa7 Setup, maintaining, and calibrate equipment according to vendors or international standard xefx82xa7 Ensure proper operation of all equipment operate by performing preventive, and corrective maintenance. xefx82xa7 Plan, order, and keep track of consumables. xefx82xa7 Assist faculty, and students in courses relevant to the laboratory. xefx82xa7 Serve as academic advisor to students. xefx82xa7 Develop, and update Health and Safety (HS) procedures for all laboratories to meet universitys HS standards. xefx82xa7 Enforce universitys HS standards for all activities related to the laboratories. xefx82xa7 Monitor and maintain an organized, clean and safe working environment in lab and ensures compliance with work legal, health and safety standards. xefx82xa7 Enforce laboratory safety regulations. xefx82xa7 Prepare, explain and perform practical experiments to students in courses related to the lab. xefx82xa7 Preparing laboratory manuals and standard laboratory procedures under faculty supervision. xefx82xa7 Setup equipment for each laboratory session in coordination with laboratory instructor. xefx82xa7 Supervise and assist students working in projects such as, but are not limited to, GPs, SUREs, and etc. xefx82xa7 Monitor, and control access to and use of all departmental laboratories and equipment. xefx82xa7 Train researchers, faculties, and those approved by the department to use machines, instruments and equipment. xefx82xa7 Provide technical support for students and researchers in designing and manufacturing for course and research projects. xefx82xa7 Conduct Safety Induction for first-time users of various Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department laboratories. xefx82xa7 Purchase all lab needs and coordinate for spare parts or maintenance needs with the equipment supplier. xefx82xa7 Proctor Undergraduate level and Graduate level examinations. xefx82xa7 Advise students on their study plans using DegreeWorks.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related area.
Preferred Qualification
